Look around a typical filtration system and chances are, you will find filter bag units installed. They are a proven, economical method of filtration, useful for bulk removal of solids in the fluid. Depending on the filter bag selection, some can even assist in removing oil or water from the process. Changing out the bags is a simple process and contaminants captured on the inside of the bag, facilitating easy disposal and clean up.
Limitations of Bag Filters
Despite this, filter bags have certain limitations such as its nominal filtration efficiency (about 90%), as well as low dirt holding capacity. If you find yourself replacing filter bags too frequently (causing costly process downtime), or if you want absolute performance (99.9%) from your system (to reduce load on downstream filters), it is well worth using a pleated filter bag instead.
